You want to find the perfect gift for that always-on-the-go person on your Christmas list–or maybe that extra busy person is you. A slate or tablet PC could be the perfect solution. Small, light, and filled to the brim with useful and fun applications, a slate or tablet gives you mobility and function in one package. Holiday tablets are a great gift idea – you can even find a tablet for kids.

Portability

Weighing as little as one pound, a tablet PC is far lighter than a laptop or even a netbook. Many tablets and slates are small enough to fit in a pocket or purse. For a person with a busy schedule, the size and weight of a tablet makes it practical to carry in almost any situation.

Access to the Internet

The ability to access email, a Twitter account, or Facebook while on the move is one perk of owning a tablet or slate. With Wi-Fi becoming more common everywhere, tablets also give the ability to do research online, check stock quotes, or do price comparisons on the spot. Whether you’re curled up on the couch or sipping a latte at the local coffee shop, tablets let you get online almost anywhere.

Entertainment

Maybe the person on your Xmas list loves to read. Maybe she’s a dedicated online gamer, or it could be he loves watching the latest movies or TV episodes on his own schedule. Perhaps your favorite way to relax is to watch the latest video making the rounds on the Internet. Whatever you do for entertainment, a tablet PC or slate can help you enjoy yourself wherever you feel the most comfortable. Tablets make excellent e-readers while offering so much more: the ability to watch videos, go online to play games, or download fun apps of all kinds.

Productivity

Maybe Christmas isn’t the time when you most want to think about work, but it’s good to know that a tablet or slate can do more than just entertain you. Just attach a keyboard to write a report, or use the tablet’s programs to control presentations, stay in touch with your colleagues, and keep organized.

Tablets/slates are becoming more and more affordable, making them perfect for anyone looking for a portable, useful, and fun Xmas gift.

Ways to Motivate Kids to Read

Ways to Get Your Child Reading

Copyright © 2010-2012 KidsTablet.com. All rights reserved.
It is true that “reading is fundamental”. But what’s a parent to do with a child who doesn’t show interest in books? Don’t fret, the problem is very common and there are easy, tried-and-true methods to break the “no-reading” blues. Before you know it, you’ll have a little bookworm on your hands!

Read yourself

Kids love to think they’re grown-up. There’s nothing more enticing in life to a little one than imitating “mommy” and “daddy.” In other works, if they see that you love reading, they’ll want to crack open a book too. You don’t have to make a production out of it, just make sure that your little one gets a glimpse of you enjoying a good book for at least 30 minutes a day.

Read to Them

If you want to make reading a part of your child’s routine, start them early. Some parents go so far as to start reading to their babies in utero. While there’s no evidence that starting before birth makes a significant difference, studies do indicate that age 2 is a good time to begin. And with the new kid’s e-reader tablets, reading is a lot more interactive and therefore, a lot more engaging for the young ones.

Invest in a Kids’ Tablet

The tablet e-readers on the market today make discovering a book an interactive event! Characters are animated and children can even insert themselves into stories. Some kid’s e-reader books — especially ones for the LeapPad Explorer –even allow you to develop the plot of the story as you go along.

Take them to the Library

Regular trips to the local library are always a good idea if you’re in search of ways to get your child reading. Moreover, most libraries have free kids’ programs. Better yet, many libraries and schools have tablet e-readers available for use.

Encourage Audio Books

Audio books are another great way to start children off on a reading path; lucky for you, most children’s e-reader tablets feature an audio option. That’s right, e-readers will actually read the book aloud to your child – some even highlight words as it goes along!

Don’t Force It

The most important thing to remember is to not force reading. Kids are allergic to anything that’s jammed down their throats – think vegetables. If the message becomes “read or else” the joy of reading becomes associated with obligation as opposed to enjoyment.

Interactive e-reader tablets make the experience that much more engaging. The holiday season is upon us, so why not considering buying a kid’s tablet for that budding bookworm in your family.
