Christmas Tablets for Kids

Santa and the Mrs are getting things ready up North; before you know it, your little one will be asking for a pen and paper (or do they email the big guy these days?) to send their wish list. And I’ll bet you a gingerbread house that one of the items on that list will be one of the many kids’ tablets coming out just in time for this holiday season — after all, kids want what the grown-ups have!

Educational-Centric Kids Tablets

While most kid-friendly electronic devices boast some sort of educational benefit, LeapFrog Technologies and VTech are battling it out for the title of “best consumer-grade learning tablet.” Leapfrog’s offering is the Leapad Explorer and VTech’s the InnoPad. Both come equipped with built-in video recorders and microphones and feature robust edutainment software. (Look out for the Kineo and Kno, too. While they’re not available in retail, yet, your little ones may be bringing them home from school.)

An E-Reader For Budding Book Worms

Nook Color for Kids is this season’s hot kid-friendly e-reader. It works just like a regular Nook or Kindle, with a few interactive extras for the little ones. Through the Nook, you can access thousands of children’s book favorites and kids can interact with the stories – it’s guaranteed to kick start any child’s love of literature and learning.

For The Up-And-Coming Picassos and Pollocks

Encouraging creativity is just as important as getting a jump-start on phonics and mat. THQ’s uDraw game tablet has been dubbed “kiddie Photoshop.” A multipurpose tablet, uDraw plugs into a video game console (XBox 360, Nintedo Wii and PlayStation 3); whatever is drawn on the tablet appears on the television screen! The pixel-resolution is impressive and the color-choices limitless. Built in shapes and features add to the fun.

The best way to get your hands on these tablets in time for Christmas is to order online. Besides, isn’t it much more pleasant to do your holiday shopping in the comfort of your own home rather than fight the crowds?

Bottom line: the must-have kids’ gifts for Christmas 2013 are tablets! My advice: pick yours up sooner rather than later. In a couple of weeks ads will flood the market, supplies will diminish, and you may land on the dreaded “wait list.” Remember: shop early and online to save.

Has it happened to you yet? Maybe your head was turned when your child grabbed the shiny, beeping, curious-looking rectangle on the table. And, splat! You watched in desperation as your treasured iPad pummeled to the floor.

Children, like adults, are fascinated by electronics. So instead of letting the little ones play with your expensive, adult-friendly iPad, why not buy your child their own tablet PC! Not only are children’s tablets fun for your kids, but they’re also digital learning tools. Better yet, studies show that interactive games jumpstart personal creativity.

LeapFrog, the leader in children’s electronic “edutainment” products, has developed the perfect kid’s tablet PC – the amazing LeapPad.

Perfectly sized for tiny hands, the powerful tablet comes pre-loaded with hundreds of colorful, kid-friendly games and educational videos. A mini, all-in-one media center, the LeapFrog’s tablet PC also features a microphone, camera and video recorder – hey, when your child gets a hold of the LeapPad, you may just discover you’re raising the next Steven Spielberg! Also a child’s e-reader, the LeapPad tablet PC is a great phonics and reading comprehension tutor.

What appears to be magic to kids, this dynamic digital device responds to touch and movement; the screen adjusts to either landscape or portrait just by turning! Also included is a stylus and handwriting applications so your child can practice the long-lost art of penmanship.

Affordably priced at $99.99, with add-on applications priced at only $7.50, the LeapPad Explorer is almost impossible to pass-up. Pre-ordering begins on June 29th.
