Amplify Classroom Tablet for Kids
News Corp. has unveiled an Android tablet for schools. The Amplify educational tablet comes optimized for the K-12 classroom and is preloaded with digital curriculum and instructional tools.
The Amplify tablet is specifically built for classrooms and gives the teacher the ability to monitor everything happening on the rest of the tablets in the classroom. A teacher can conduct lessons with a small group or the entire class right from his or her own tablet.
The Amplify tablet runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and comes with a 10-inch display. The slate, which runs on the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core CPU, comes with quality educational Amplify software.
The new kids tablet comes pre-loaded with quality content and apps curated by Amplify. The tablet comes with learning tools like the Encyclopedia Britannica, Khan Academy tutorial videos, literacy tools from EverFi and access to Google Apps for Education.
Both parents and teachers will be able to access the educational data collected on the tablets and track learning progress. The Amplify slate is designed to improve the learning experience.
Two models will be available, a $299 Wi-Fi model and a 4G Amplify Tablet Plus model costing $349 aimed at kids working from home. Each tablet requires a 2-year contract – Those plans run $99 per year (Wi-Fi) to $179 per year (4G model).
Amplify is selling its tablet to customers starting now. Tablets purchased before June 30 will be ready for the 2013-2014 school year.
